Corruption’s Needs

You’ll always know corruption
By it ever seeking your ear
It will endlessly take territory
Destroy trusts and bridges
With a bold pretense of giving
While it occupies all that it offers
The wells it poisons won’t clear
For measures abidingly tended

Turning blind-eyed and listening
You advance an adulterant power
Corruption never sets you free
Not for a moment, never liberates
It has to maintain everything it is
To be discovered is to cease to be
Vesting itself deep and wide in you
And may even have your compassion

It will teach you how to justify
By knowing your uncertainty
Your ear is its stronghold
It knows your weaknesses as
It has prodded you for them
It has mirrored your disdain
As it does your admirations
Listening like a chameleon
Coloring itself to your liking

Corruption takes and destroys
And calls for Proof of your Loyalty
Love does not Ask for such proof
Love does Not exist that way
It demands no demonstrations
Never calls for you to condemn
Such as corruption always will
Stirring pots and dropping lies
Corruption needs You to survive

It Needs you to Survive
